Restaurateur Frank Torres opened his second restaurant, (the Moss Beach Distillery was his first), a pink colored building, here in Montara in the 1950s– a place where he and his wife loved to dress up in costumes and host parties during the holiday season. Later, in the 1970s the locals kept up the tradition with lively parties held in a room downstairs on Halloween.
This was the site of an earlier two-story wooden building that burned.
About 1980 Frank’s restaurant was torn down, except for one wall to meet the requirements of the Coastal Commission (or so went the rumor) enabling the Chart House could construct their new restaurant with big picture windows overlooking the sands of Montara.
